Captained by Bismah Maroof, Pakistan women’s team is all set to start their ICC T20 World Cup campaign in Australia on a strong note as they take on West Indies in their first match today (26th of February, 2020) in Canberra.
The girls in green are placed in Group B alongside England, South Africa, Thailand and West Indies.
Former champions West Indies opened the tournament against newcomers Thailand, and sealed a relatively comfortable victory in the end. Stafanie Taylor led with bat and ball, taking three wickets and scoring an unbeaten 26 in a seven-wicket win.
Pakistan are not as big outsiders as Thailand but they still come into this tournament not expected to qualify from their group. They lost their most recent bilateral series 3-0 to England. With South Africa having beaten England first up, West Indies will know the importance of this match to their semi-final hopes now.
